I have experience seeing clients of all ages, from childhood to adult, who experience depression, anxiety, ADHD, traumatic experiences, and difficulty with adjustment to life changes. I have received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based treatment intervention. TF-CBT is an intervention that teaches clients to identify their feelings and their intensity and develop coping skills/relaxation techniques to help with strong feelings. When clients have experienced traumatic events in their lives, the goal of TF-CBT is to help individuals process their experience and heal from those traumatic events.
I received a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1999 and a Masters of Science degree in Psychological Services from East Central University in the spring of 2018. I completed my internship at Hope Revealed Behavioral Health Center in Shawnee, OK, and am currently in my candidacy for Licensed Professional Counselor certification. My husband of 22 years and I have four teenage and young adult children. While I love working with clients of all ages and walks of life, I thoroughly enjoy working with children, adolescent, teenage, and young adult clients. I began working with youth-aged children over 9 years ago through sponsoring in my church youth group and children’s program and in the community. My goal is for my clients to experience a safe, comfortable, accepting environment where they can openly share their feelings and concerns and develop skills to help themselves throughout life’s journey.
